240 Notary Publics to Compete for One Job on New Reality TV Show

Astrid Entertainment – creators of Blind Beekeeper – announced this week that Stamp! will debut on the PLUSSS cable network at 10 PM on August 17.

The premise: Julie, a 27 year-old spokesmodel, has suddenly hit it big with an antacid ad campaign. Because of her newfound wealth, she will require the services of one notary public to process documents full time.

So how will she choose the lucky stamper? By moving into a luxurious mansion on Malibu Beach, along with 240 notary publics who will compete for the job as the TV cameras roll.

“I think until now the record is 56 people on one reality show,” says producer Jane Fairma, citing 2014’s Street Cleaners. Coming up with 240 notaries was a challenge, she acknowledges, since most had never heard of reality TV.

A preview of episode one reveals a few of the ways the notaries vie for Julie’s attention: Virginia, a 45 year-old notary from the Bronx, tattoos Julie’s social security number on the bottom of her feet. Ed, 28, from San Diego, pulls a quarter out of her ear. Paulette, 33,  presents her with a dozen bottle openers. Al, 55, looks at Julie and faints.

There’s a whole lot more, Fairma promises, though she won’t divulge anything – other than to  hint that a kangaroo may come into the picture.

“What I can guarantee,” she says, “is that the antics will grow more wacky every week!”
