Perhaps following the lead of rappers Lil’ Bow Wow and Lil’ Romeo, both of whom have dropped the Lil’, it is rumored that pastry icon Little Debbie will become just “Debbie” – but not until mid-2017.
“If such a thing were to happen – and I’m not saying it is – we’d need some time to get the public used to it,” says a Little Debbie executive, who spoke anonymously as she is only authorized to comment on fructose quotients.
The company – which manufactures Nutty Bars, Cosmic Brownies and other items – is reportedly concerned about falling sales of its Swiss Cake Rolls and believes a “hipper” name will help get things back on track.
Also allegedly under discussion is whether Debbie will get a new hat, as she’s worn the same one since 1967. “If that were to happen – and I’m not saying it is – it wouldn’t be for at least ten years,” says the executive, indicating that much research would be required.
