Destiny45, the Detroit music publisher, is negotiating to purchase the rights to Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ in the Wind.” Before the deal can be finalized, however, the company insists it be provided with the answers to all the questions asked in the composer’s most famous song.

The offer is reportedly so attractive that Dylan and his managers have hired research firm Name It! to determine the answers by August 31. Sources say that so far they have have calculated three:

Q: How many roads must a man walk down before he knows he’s a man?

A: 87.3

Q: How many seas must a white dove sail before she sleeps in the sand?

A: 12.0004

Q: How many ears must one man have before he can hear people cry?

A: Two

Other questions are proving more challenging – though they’re getting closer to how far cannon balls must fly before they’re forever banned, having narrowed it down to between 14.5 and 15.2 miles.  They are reportedly much farther apart on how many times a man can turn his head pretending he doesn’t see.

To cover all bases, Destiny45 has also asked NameIt! to calculate the speed of the wind the answers are blowin’ in.
